Earlier this month Jackie gave a talk at Youthreach in Clondalkin and she has been invited to speak on suicide awareness and bullying in a Tallaght school. She has also found support and solace through a Facebook page she set up, Let’s Bring In Coo’s Law, which has seen families from all over the world contact her.
Jackie tries not to be over-protective with her sons Dean, 19, and 15-year-old Lee but finds it difficult. She added: “I am watching them. I can’t help it. I’m just so scared because I can’t go through something like that again.
“Nicole’s last text message to me was, ‘I love you’, with a heart. I’m doing all this for Nicole, so others don’t suffer the way she did.
“If I can’t have her here with me then at least I can do this in her memory.”
