The volume of house sales is increasing across the country — except in Laois where it continues to fall.

In Co Cork 3,168 houses were sold last year, a 16% increase on 2012. In Co Galway, it was even higher with a 32% hike.

Co Kerry saw a 15% rise in house sales with the highest rate of transactions in Killarney.

In Co Wicklow, a 23% rise was recorded between 2012 and 2013.

The figures from myhome.ie show a 45% increase in the amount of money spent on houses in Co Carlow.

In Co Wicklow, that figure stands at 30%.

The amount of money spent on houses in Dublin increased by 34% last year.
