I hear on the radio that Tesco in the UK is seeking to raise the retirement age in its pension fund to 67 years of age. Having long since resigned myself to the fact that I will be working until at least 70, I find it somewhat reassuring to note that the rationale behind the raising of the retirement age is that we are all living longer and therefore, while we may have to work an extra few years, we will all still enjoy an active and long retirement.
I think people are now approaching retirement in a more structured way than heretofore, certainly it now is seen as merely a milestone in one’s life, and not the end of the world, certainly it is not considered by people to be the end of their working lives, with many of us going on to second careers in retirement.
In this office we now often come across individuals who, as they approach retirement contact us to reappraise wills on their behalf, check title deeds, and draft enduring powers of attorney, in short retirement now seems to be a time when people organise a full legal MOT. If you are approaching retirement age , why not contact us to arrange your legal MOT
